Stephanie Olsson compassionately and aggressively represents clients in an array of domestic relations proceedings. Domestic relations proceedings include divorce matters, parentage cases wherein the parties were not married but have children as a result of a dating relationship, child support and orders of protection. Ms. Olsson represents clients in Cook County, Lake County, McHenry County and Kane County. Additionally, Ms. Olsson represents clients before the Illinois Secretary of State to petition for reinstatement of driving privileges.
After graduating from the University of Illinois at Chicago, magna cum laude and with honors, Ms. Olsson went on to receive a Juris Doctor in 2006 from Northern Illinois University College of Law. While in law school, Ms. Olsson placed first for her Appellate Court argument and was a member of the trial team.
With more than ten years of experience, Ms. Olsson has represented domestic relations clients with marital estates ranging from a nominal amount to multi-million dollar estates, creatively solved issues concerning scheduling parenting time for clients with work hours outside of a standard 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. work day, valued and divided businesses between spouses, aggressively argued for more parenting time for her clients when the other parent was not agreeable to additional parenting time, addressed pension valuation and division, argued at numerous court hearings and proceeded to trial when a settlement was not feasible or in her client’s best interest.
Ms. Olsson practices law with an eye towards narrowing the contested issues so clients are not overburdened financially from the divorce while having to handle the emotional-side of the matter. Ms. Olsson spends time with each client to ensure each client understands both the weaknesses and strengths within their case so clients can make informed decisions, with Ms. Olsson’s guidance, on how to proceed on an issue within his or her case.
More than once, Ms. Olsson was named a Rising Star in the domestic relations field which is an honor bestowed upon only a small group of domestic relations attorneys. Further, Ms. Olsson is a published author in the genre of Illinois Secretary of State driver’s license hearings and has taught at several Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education seminars on the topics of driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs and driver’s license reinstatement.
She has successfully negotiated settlements in excess of $8,000,000.00 for our clients.
Ms. Olsson is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois, the U.S. District Court for the Central District of Illinois, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and in State court.
