Metropolis, located in Arlington Heights, Illinois, has become well-known in the northwest suburban communities for providing leading venues for quality programming. The Metropolis complex contains a 350 seat theater, four classrooms, and 13 musician’s studios. They offer surrounding communities the changes to view some of Chicago’s most talented performers, as well as acts from across the nation.

Metropolis was founded in May 2000 as a for-profit organization but completed its nonprofit 501(c)(3) status in April 2002. Since then, Metropolis has looked to nurture innovative cultural programs for the northwest suburban areas.

In January 2005, the Village of Arlington Heights assisted in the purchase of the Metropolis theater and other portions of the property. The valued partnership reinforces Performing Arts at Metropolis’ leadership role in the community.

Throughout a typical season, Metropolis has over 300 performances and over 40 different productions on schedule. Their School of the Performing Arts serves over 2,500 students. Metropolis’s program, Stories in Action!, provides over 18,000 students with an exciting theater-going experience. In addition, their Outreach programs bring the arts to other students, those with special needs, seniors, and hospice patients. Every season, Metropolis sees over 70,000 patrons through their doors.

Metropolis continues to cultivate partnerships with Arlington Heights businesses, schools and organizations to contribute to and grow the surrounding suburban community.

The Northwest Community Hospital (NCH) Foundation was created in 1981 as the fundraising section of the hospital. It helps NCH provide patients and the community with a wide range of exceptional medical and social services. The NCH Foundation’s mission is to inspire charitable donations to aid the hospital’s state-of-the-art facilities, advanced technologies, community outreach programs, and medical research.

NCH and the Foundation are lead by a volunteer Board of Trustees, consisting of civic and business leaders from the area, and look to redefine what it means to be a “community hospital.” The Board works with local philanthropists and leaders, in addition to NCH physicians, employees, and volunteers to keep the community aware of accomplishments, funding needs, and future plans.

The NCH Foundation is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization. Contributions are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. For more information, please visit the Northwest Community Hospital Foundation online or call by phone at 847-618-4260.
